Default Excerpt: New Book Marks End of Atkins

I have permission from Cypress House to distribute an
excerpt from the new book, "Survival of the Thinnest," by
David Hariton. This book could be the eight ounces that
tips the scale against Atkins, a diet the author argues is
doomed to fail.

In fact, all diets are doomed, according to Hariton, because
they fight our genetic script. Hariton's book is based on
meticulous research of the medical literature regarding
diet, exercise, and genetics. It also contains an ingredient
missing from almost all diet books: common sense. In our diet-
obsessed culture, however, the conclusion Hariton comes to
sounds radical: It doesn't matter what you eat -- or how
much -- as long as you practice a specific 30-minute routine
every day.

Hariton's book has been endorsed by John E. Sarno, M.D.,
author of "Healing Back Pain"; Jason Kirkman, M.D., Medical
Director of the Cardiopulmonary Department at Mendocino
Coast District Hospital; and nutritional expert Ruth Carey,
R.D., L.D., among other medical professionals.

The excerpt I am distributing, called "Fitting Into Your
Genes," explains why we get fat, and why dieting is
incapable of providing a meaningful weight-loss solution. To
get the excerpt, send mailto:excerptsnews@bellsouth.net with
the subject line "Send Thinnest" and I will reply with the
text -- and *only* the text -- no file attachments or opt-in
mailing list jive. Thanks.

No, diets are doomed because they concentrate only on the
food and not on the exercise that is the necessary half of
good health and burns the calories. There's no specific
routine you need to follow, you just need to get your 30
minutes of exercise a day or, better yet, an hour, and you
need to make sure you are doing aerobics for at least part
of your exercise because as the American Heart Association
can show, no matter how much resistance work you do you can
still have a heart attack if that's all you
do. Then limit portions and portion sizes and eat a WIDE
variety of foods to make sure you get all your
nutrients, and stop stressing over those last 5 or 10
pounds, and keep it up for life.

Nonsense. Read Dr. Herman Taller's 1961 best selling diet
book: "Calories Don't Count"

You can get copies cheap through Amazon (used), or
http://www.Half.com

What was old is new again.

Calories, of course, do count, but Taller's diet works. Who
cares about the theory?

PS: Atkins works too.

I believe I know the 30 minute routine he practices.
