First you have to read the greatest non-fictional writer of our
century, Mattis, then once you cannot take it any longer. …Read the Saunders' Aritcle. Everyone has a story from Redlands. Mattis http://www.bike.com/template.asp?da...irectory=franke Saunders http://www.eriksaunders.com/legends.MattisPee.htm |

Didn't Mattis have about 280-320W last year according to some SRM graph

> First you have to read the greatest non-fictional writer of our century, Mattis. Thanks Rik - The Mattis pee-drinking story is the funniest thing I've read this year. In Mattis' honor I wanted to bring back my personal favorite from him last season. Here, he recounts his exploits in the last stage of the Elkhorn Stage Race last year. Here's the setup: "Heading into the left hand turn to start the climb, I asked Jeff "are you ready to see some fireworks?" He shrugged his shoulders. At the base of the climb I kept it in my big ring while everyone shifted to their little rings - and powered up the climb and away from the group. And the money-shot: "Doug Ollerenshaw was the only rider able to accelerate onto my wheel as the rest of the pack watched in shock and awe at the speed and power of my acceleration." |

is this watts at threshold or something?... if it is then that kind of
of improvement is easy to achieve through training... he has gone from not so good a level to a normal level for a pro biker... he has improved a lot since he started to race nationaly... having horner on your team will give you a big reason to push hard and make big efforts in training.. much more than if you rode for the webcor team from last year... if i was on the same team with old chris, then i would have to be 450-480 just so i could be there to help in the end!... i think that you will notice that quite a few of the guys from last year's team will be a step up this year... in part because they have spent the entire month of march on the front going hard near AT whereas last year they were anonymous... if you go to a race and sit on all day you would probably have been better off staying at home and training hard... I know it wasn't quite fair to compare - I noted after re-reading the report that he was talking about the Mt Rubidoux TT and the SRM graph that was published I went back and looked at and it was from SFGP in 2002. Slight disagreement with your characterisation - it's never _easy_ to make those sort of improvements in training...it's _possible_ but it's _hard work_ :-) It's interesting to keep track of...back when I was racing seriously (early 90s), 390-400W was the entry-level power at threshold for a European neo-pro. > were anonymous... if you go to a race and sit on all day you would > probably have been better off staying at home and training hard... Amen to that. |

All I can say is this: James, don't quit your day job. And Erik, perhaps when you finally give up the 12k dream, you should send your resume to the Comedy Channel. That, or apply to be DK's body guard and keep the peace. |

Dude, stick to stories of drinking piss, "what can BROWN do for you",
and fat gym coaches... These serious posts just aren't your style. > is this watts at threshold or something?... if it is then that kind of > of improvement is easy to achieve through training... he has gone from > not so good a level to a normal level for a pro biker... he has improved > a lot since he started to race nationaly... having horner on your team > will give you a big reason to push hard and make big efforts in > training.. much more than if you rode for the webcor team from last > year... if i was on the same team with old chris, then i would have to > be 450-480 just so i could be there to help in the end!... i think that > you will notice that quite a few of the guys from last year's team will > be a step up this year... in part because they have spent the entire > month of march on the front going hard near AT whereas last year they > were anonymous... if you go to a race and sit on all day you would > probably have been better off staying at home and training hard... > |

Sorry about that; I meant no disrespect... > watch out because i am going to race masters for LABOR!..."LABOR!"... That would be the best thing for Masters racing since $3k carbon frames and $3 low-carb apple fritters. I won't hold my breath waiting though. > i am intereseted to see some power files from US pro.. where do i go?... and i > am going to race georgia with my ergomo and put the files up on my website... If you haven't done so already, subscribe to the wattage email list at: http://lists.topica.com/lists/wattage because there's lots of smart people and lots of power files flying around there. I think they would really like to see your Georgia power files. Also, maybe you know this already, but I saw the following there... ================================================================ Ergomo-USA, LLC at the request of the manufacturer, SG Sensortechnik, has issued a recall for the most recent batch of Octalink spindle version ergomo Sport powermeters that have been sold through Ergomo-USA LLC. Due to a potential defect discovered in one production lot of Octalink ergomo spindles, there is the risk of breaking the spindle during use. All affected Ergomo systems have been recalled, and will be replaced. We have made every effort to contact each of our Octalink ergomo Sport customers directly. We regret the inconvenience to our customers, we have issued this recall for the safety of our customers. This recall does not effect ISO square taper ( Campi combatible) ergomo Sport powermeters. The ISO square taper spindle is a different component part, produced by a different vendor.
