Most formula cars and motorcycles are too abusive to drive/ride without being in very good cardiovascular shape, and many drivers use cycling to build that cardiovascular shape. Paul Tracy, the Champcar racer, was sponsored by Fondriest, who gave him some nice Record-equipped bikes in exchange for a logo on his helmet. I can also think of others - Emerson and Christian Fittipaldi (I once saw a picture of Emerson on a Zipp time trial bike, with a Marlboro logo painted on the disk - "isn't it ironic, dontcha think?"), Walter Rohrl (who was supposedly a pretty good amateur bike racer in addition to a World Rally Champion), Bob Wollek (who died in a bicycling accident in Florida while training for the 12 Hours of Sebring sportscar race), Alain Prost, Michael Schumacher, etc. |

In the 125-cc category of road racing world championship, there's an Italian rider called Max Sabbatani, who's 150 cm tall and weighs 39 kg. Shouldn't he make a pretty good climber? -as |
