Default Nimrod's Exposed!

Hey,

This quote is from the great Daily Peloton piece by George
Hincapie....(www.dailypeloton.com) April 19, 2004

(Daily Peloton) There are a lot of factors involved in winning a
race like Paris-Roubaix...

(George Hincapie); Yeah, and it was bad that there were no
teammates there with 100K left - bad luck - but you know, everybody
just makes a decision based on what they see on Outdoor Life
television now, and it seems like there are a lot of people out there
who are experts on cycling, but they don't see everything. They don't
see behind the scenes of what goes on on the team.
This is the best team in the world, it's an American team, and we
have the best riders in the world, the best equipment, and the best
staff. We've got a lot of good things. I know there are other teams
that are like that, and I'm not saying that I would never leave, but
what I am saying that it is a good team, and it would be hard to
leave.

RBR regular village idiot's like Brian Lafferty and Tom Kunich come
to mind. The list by no means stops there.

Thanks,
Ronde Chumpion

Dear Goofus, perhaps you'd like to expand on that statement about me? What
the hell are you talking about? Am I not the one who said exactly what
George said? And ain'yt you the one whose brain was used in an experiment to
make a semi-intelligent frog?

A "Nimrod" classically defined, is a fearless hunter. I reckon the
meaning you were looking for was something less honorable. Perhaps
"Dufus" or "Gomer"?

This is the influence that cartoons has had on our language. In a Bugs
Bunny cartoon, Bugs referred to the hapless hunter Elmer Fudd, saying "I
wonder what the little Nimrod is up to?" Most of us kids, not knowing
the historical reference to Nimrod as a great hunter, assumed that the
term was synonymous with "dufus" or "gomer".

The British RAF had (probably still do) an airborne radar platform on an
aircraft called the Nimrod. It was the equivalent of the Boeing AWACS
radar plane. Not sure if it was because it was a "great hunter", but
its radar used to regularly pick up Porsches on British motorways
speeding.

Are you sensitive about that "statement" Tommy ? That would make you a Nimrod.

That's not my mistake, that is a translation from the cyclingforums
interface making ugly html for me. It seems to work just fine when
viewed via cyclingforums but not via google groups.

Try this: Type in the URL into that little horizontal box at the top of
your browser and hit enter. That works too, smarty pants.

Try Davey's Calorie Counter for an example of some HTML/JavaScript

Or if you want to install it to your own hard drive:
http://members.rogers.com/davey_crocket/calories.zip

I just love the music.

Try this, IT wizard (with a nice website): Move Away From Cyclingforums!
I hate it, hate it, hate it. Why don't you just use a regular news
reader, maybe Mozilla, Agent, or even Outlook Express (with
OE-QuoteFix). If your ISP does not have a (reliable) news server, try
news.individual.net (go to website for details).

The only reason I even read this ng is to waste time at work. CF works
behind the firewall, and is faster than google. Are there any other web-
based news readers besides CF and google?
