Default Pictures on web of tour barrier crash?

Does anyone know if there are pics on the web of Abdojaporph (sp?) crashing
into the barriers during the Tour sprint about 10 years or so back?

I've searched for it, but I don't have a clue as to how you spell his name.

Thanks

Thanks. I was able to find plenty of stories about it, but no pics.

You may get lucky and find that picture, or someone may have one tucked away on an old hard drive somewhere.

But the fact is that it was one of the luckiest shots ever and most probably the most dramatic shot ever taken on the Tour.

It was lucky because only one photographer got the shot back in 1993 I seem to remember. And he only got it because he'd been shoo'd out of the finish line spots (Djamoldine Abdujaparov crashed 100 meters out) and had to be satisfied with whatever he could get from what was otherwise a pretty unenviable spot.

But Abdu's misfortune was the photog's meal ticket. The shot is copyrighted and tightly controlled.

Good Luck. Maybe check e-bay!!

This is as good as it gets for Abd(o)ujaparov, but unfortunately not the piccy you want.

It used to be here but I guess they took it down

There's also a Crash video out, hosted by Bob Roll, with some
spectacular wrecks. Rather uncomfortable viewing.

Thanks for the help everyone. My eight year old daughter decided to do her
"Great Brain" report at school on the Tour (sniff... I'm so proud! She
doesn't know if yet, but that will get her the bike she wants for her
birthday next month!). Remembering what I was like as a kid, I knew the
crashes would be a big hit. I found some good pics of bloody riders on the
ground, and she played some video tape of Beloki and Armstrong going down
last year. She said the kids wanted to see that over and over again. I
should have bought "Cycling's Greatest Crashes" or what ever it's called. I
think Adjou is in that! Kids would have loved it!
