Default Philadelphia: Here's the latest shop opening.

I own a (furniture) store on the USPro course in Philly, and received
the following email from a new neighbor:

Subject: Cadence Grand Opening!

Dear Cycling Enthusiast,

Cadence Performance Cycling & Carmichael Training Systems welcome you
to
their grand opening. Come join us for a weekend of events and
giveaways!

Mr. Carmichael, who has been instrumental in the success of such
world-class endurance athletes as Lance Armstrong, Alison Dunlap,
Roland
Green, Saku Koivu, George Hincapie, Will Frischkorn, and numerous
others, will be on hand to sign copies of his latest book, The
Ultimate
Ride. Mr. Carmichael will also be available to answer questions about
his training philosophy which focuses on the so-called "aerobic
engine."

Mr. Carmichael, whose company Carmichael Training Systems (CTS)
entered
into a strategic alliance with Cadence Performance Cycling Centers
<http://www.cadencecycling.com/> , LLC, is making his appearance to
promote a radical new approach to providing his world-class coaching
services to amateur athletes of all abilities. The new CTS Performance
Center-Philadelphia provides cyclist and multisport athletes of all
abilities the same kind of attention to training and dedication to
success from which all CTS athletes benefit. But, where the new CTS
Performance Center-Philadelphia differentiates itself from the
traditional CTS web services is the hands-on attention and
cutting-edge
testing services provided in this new state of the art facility.

Under the leadership of three-time Olympic cyclist and former leader
of
Team Saturn, Brian Walton, the CTS Performance Center will provide
testing and training services normally reserved for only the most
elite
athletes. Inside the 3,000 square foot testing facility, athletes of
all
abilities will be tested on their current levels of fitness, including
their maximum V02 levels, their anaerobic/lactate thresholds, their
maximum power outputs in terms of wattage, and their current resting
metabolic rates. These tests, which are for the first time in
Philadelphia's history available to the broadest possible spectrum of
cyclists and multisport athletes, provide baseline criteria by which
training programs for increased fitness, performance, and overall
health
can be gauged.

Festivities include
Friday: Mimosas, coffee, and bagels in the morning. Wine, beer,
cheeses,
crudites and selection of meats served throughout the afternoon.

Saturday: Open house all day with special prices and tours of the
performance center. Vendors on hand to answer questions as well as
various pro and regional racers.

Appearances
- Book signing by Chris Carmichael.
- Guest speaker Bob Roll, Member of the Cycling Hall of Fame, 5 time
Tour de France participant, and author.
- Norm Alvis, former teammate of Bob Roll, Brian Walton and
Chris Carmichael on Team 7/eleven.

Give Aways
- 3 Nike heart rate monitors
- 3 Wine Bottle openers (Campagnolo)
- Energy drinks: New PowerBar/CTS Endurance drink
- Cyfac frameset
- 1 expense paid training camp in Spain with EuroCycler (excludes
airfare)
- Posters, t-shirts, sundry products and services

Working alongside Mr. Walton is Ryan Oelkers. Oelkers, who has been
with
Carmichael and CTS since that company's inception, will take the role
of
senior coach at Cadence's CTS Performance Center-Philadelphia. Mr.
Oelkers is also professional cyclist for Team Fuji, and brings with
him
a wealth of practical racing experience to ensure that his athletes
reap
the full benefits of Carmichael's training methodology.

Mr. Carmichael's presence at Cadence Performance Cycling is a unique
opportunity to meet the individual about whom Bicycling Magazine
raved,
"Without Chris Carmichael, there'd be no Lance Armstrong."

Yeah, I saw something about this somewhere a few days ago. I heard a
few cycling personalities would be there and a passel of experts.
It's on the outskirts of Philly and just the thing for the budding
east coast cyclist, etc.

Hard for me to get jumping up and down about as I live closer to the
original CTS outfit, but never seem to have the time to get down
there.
