I think Bonds vs. Lance with Bonds winning.

Bonds won't take a drug test, lance will, so I vote for lance.

Whenever they get a new sponsor for it, would be my guess. "And today's greatest athlete is Alexandre Moos, yesterday's was Kobe, the day before Barry Bonds, etc. etc. etc." |

> http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page...le/athlete/2004 This is hilarious! It seems to me that the best athletes in the world are equal to "the best American athlete". And come on, Woods beats Van Nistelrooy. How crazy is that? |

@twister.rdc-kc.rr.com: > http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page...le/athlete/2004 Click on the link on the sports skills difficulty rankings. They rank sports on about 10 dimensions to decide which is the toughest. Though cycling is #1 on endurance, it ends up at #20 when all factors are considered. It is nice, though to see they got it right about golf -- #51 (out of 60), just edging out sports like cheerleading, curling, and fishing. And I think cheerleading got robbed. NS |

Besides, who believes anything from ESPN anyway, they mostly don't give non-USA sports the same time as USA sports. |

Alas, it's the US-centric view point that the sports world revolves around the US and it's "Major League" sports. If I had to pick a country I thought was the most competitive for it's population I'd have to say Australia. Too many americans watch sports, not enough participate. And then there's always the problem of other worthy activities not garnering their fair share of attention: http://tinyurl.com/35mmy |
