The real worry, as I understand the story from my Greek father-in-law, is what state Athens will be in at Olympics-time. They're hustling from behind schedule on myriad projects, basically relying on the Greek habit of finishing at the last minute to pull things through. What this will mean is that security should be excitingly paranoid for the Olympics. -- Ryan Cousineau, rcousine@sfu.ca http://www.sfu.ca/~rcousine/wiredcola/ President, Fabrizio Mazzoleni Fan Club |

Well if the US is a no show, maybe the rest of the world will enjoy the
Olympics due to how hated we are now. Oh yeah, what does this have to do with cycling? It's got nothing at all to do with cycling. Why? Coz eveybody knows that cyclists are such drugged up Wankerz (just ask the modern day Shylocks) that the IOC, despite pleas by cycling's biggest booster, Dick (by Name and Nature) Pound to reconsider, have cancelled all the cycling events at this year's Jingoistic Junket. So who cares who the Tin-Pot roof falls on (supposing it ever gets installed in the first place). -- le Vent a Dos Davey Crockett Six-Day site: http://members.rogers.com/sixday/sixday.html |

It would mean no medal chances for Lance or any other american cyclists.
Happy about that? I'm not. curt wrote: > Well if the US is a no show, maybe the rest of the world will enjoy the > Olympics due to how hated we are now. > > Oh yeah, what does this have to do with cycling? > > Curt > > > "Ryan Cousineau" <rcousine@sfu.ca> wrote in message > news:rcousine-FEF947.23570804052004@morgoth.sfu.ca... > >>In article >><87llk7bjmy.fsf@cpe000423176ea9-cm0f2069983361.cpe.net.cable.rogers.com> >>, >> Davey Crockett <Davey_Crockett@rogers.com> wrote: >> >> >>>Richard Adams <ackthpt@concentric.net> writes: >>> >>> >>>>Suppose this will impact the Olympics? >>>> >>>> >>> >>>Wouldn't imagine so. >> >>The real worry, as I understand the story from my Greek father-in-law, >>is what state Athens will be in at Olympics-time. I'm not. No I am not happy about that, but I do feel we will not go. We are just not in harmony with the rest of the world right now. People are worried about the Greeks being ready, but I don't think they will have a problem. I just can't help but to be concerned for certain countries athletes if they go. I listened to a bit more about this on the BBC this morning, NATO will be providing additional security. Still, these were three bombs outside a Police Station in central Athens. You'd think they would at least have some kind of surveilence system which would pick up the activity. |
