Nice win for Devolder in the wet, who soloed in after attacking the
peloton about 30 km from the end. Chavanel new leader on GC, moving up from 3rd. |

Eurosport had switched away from coverage while Marc Streel, the previous holder of the pink GC leader's jersey was still out on the course. There was a little graphic when Devolder was perhaps 10 km from the end of the stage showing time gaps: Chavanel at about +30 seconds, Rous and the peloton at +1:05, and Streel at +18:00. Streel finished 24 minutes down. Ouch. Do they hold the podium ceremony while the current jersey wearer is still out on the course? |

What an incredible race in almost "Dantesque" circumstances: wind, rain, cold and what an incredibly selective track. Didn't know there were climbs that hard in the region of Boulogne-Sur-Mer. The "sprint" for the second place was an ideal illustration of how the riders had suffered. |

Maybe they should have a ceremony where they strip the old leader of his jersey when he loses that much time. -- tanx, Howard "Moby Dick was a work of art, What the hell happened?" remove YOUR SHOES to reply, ok? |

That was Henri Desgrange's tradition. Since he passed on, the Tour has gotten soft - now they just taco a wheel on the rider's knee. With today's lightweight equipment, it barely hurts. OLN failed to show the ceremony today with the ritual stripping of the pink jersey from Olaf Pollack after the climb - shades of Cadel Evans. What ever happened to Cadel "Collarbone" Evans, anyway? |

What ever happened to Cadel "Collarbone" Evans, anyway? Took 3rd in Murcia early in March... the entire T-Mobile team has been veeeeeeeery quiet lately. -Sonarrat. |
