Giro stage 4: Simoni dominates

I saw some of the stage 4 this morning, but Simoni was quite
impressive. It's really suprising to see a mountain stage so early in
a Tour. I think the 1989 or 1990 tdf had a mountain stage early in the
tdf. It was a day after the Futuroscope TT. Adding a mountain stage
early in the race really livens up the race. I like the idea of having
cobbles in the prologue this year. I think adding a pave stage to this
years tdf is a good idea. The tours were becoming far to predictable.
This forces the racers to become more complete riders. Heck even
Cippollini has become slightly more well rounded over the years.

Oh, I dunno about Cipo, he's slinking around 29 minutes down while
Peta is only 19 minute down, so far. I'm predicitng between the two
that Cipo will be the first to drop back an hour. I wonder how many
tifosi were pushing their favorite sprinters up the mountains today.

I wouldn't really call Simoni's victory today dominant. He only has ~20
secs on Popovych after one of the steepest climbs in the Giro. He got
away but that was about it. And Cunego dropped off the pace but we'll
never know if that was because Cunego couldn't keep up or if Saeco
ordered him to fall back and let Simoni win.

I to like to see the mixed variety of stages and hope to see more of it.

By the way, it doesn't matter to me if you post results in the title. I
want to know who wins what as soon as possible. I also want to discuss
it as soon as possible.

I suspect it is some kind of product along the lines of that medically
suspect wristband he endorsed last year. The Giro as infomercial.
