Default Belgrade and the Danube?

I have a week long trip there for work at the end of the month, and I'm
wondering if it's worth taking my Bike Friday with me. Is there a bike trail
along the Danube or some relatively quiet roads to ride on? I'm quite happy
to go up and down substantial hills (mountain passes even), and I can
organise myself a work-free weekend there if it's worthwhile.

Yes, there is a bike trail along the Danube. Pick up the Bikeline
guide: Donau-Radweg 3. Go to http://www.bikeline.at/ , click on
Bikeline, click on Osterreich, then click on Donau-Radweg 3. I have
not cycled that section but you can look at my photos of the Passau -
Vienna section at http://webhome.idirect.com/~brown/austria1.htm

But this book only covers the stretch between Vienna and Budapest - it
doesn't go as far as Belgrade.

Whoops. Somehow I thought he said Budapest. Never mind.
