How many of you use an energy drink when riding? Do you have to mix it or is it in a concentrated form that you add to water. I have been mixing the powder, but found a new one that comes in a gel pouch. Just wanted to see who prefers the powder form.

Short rides (under 2 hours) is primarily powder mixed Gatorade and a bottle of water. Longer rides is Gatorade and Accelerade. Races since they are usually around 2 hours I use HEED by Hammer nutrition also a powder and maybe a bottle of Accelerade or water depending on conditions.

I was using only Accelerade, but then switched to e-Gel (Cranksports). That stuff's awesome!

Wow, I feel uninformed. I've never tried Accelerade. I stick to the Gatorade and water...

I've been using Accelerade (Powder) for quite a while now...it really seems to work for me! However, one does need to be carefull with the percentage of mix, it can make one nauseous if too much Powder is added to the water... |

CydoMax all the way. Keep a bottle of water and a bottle of CydoMax for the shorter rides. Longer rides is a CamelBack and two CydoMax bottles in the cages. Good stuff.

cytomax seems to do the trick for me. I like it better that most drinks because it isnt loaded with sugar.

I've been using the Power Bar "Endurance" powder mix. I have used Accelerade, Cytomax and others. The Power Bar drink tastes far better than any of the others, it's a little pricey but I only use it on longer rides. They also make a recovery drink powder for immediately after riding, it seems to help, but it could just be mental.
