anyone knows of a product that can help counting the calories we are eating, and help monitor how much we have eaten during the day. I think it would be great to find such a product..especially when you can choose the food from a database and will help follow the diet better..I can imagine this may be a great help for obese people as well..
anyone heard of this device? what do you think? |

floriana, I investigated such devices/software awhile back thinking, like you, that it would make life easier. Not so. In reality, nothing is as handly and flexible as a simple pencil and paper. Using the nutritional label on food, you can simply adjust to how much you are eating and jot it down. Whenever needed, total it up. If you still think there is a better solution, just be sure to consider the hassles and inflexibility of such solutions. How much time do your really want to spend entering all of that data in software program or small handheld device? Just my 2 cents. |

I have found that www.nutrawatch.com is pretty helpful. I just use the free portion - but you can add in your weight training and aerobic activity as well.
Good luck! |

There are programs that run on Palms and iPaqs. I've used a few for years and they really do help. It's much easier to keep the weight off once you start monitoring the calories. Forget all that "metabolism" and "eating after hours" crap. It's a simple equation. Eat less and excercise more and you will lose weight. If you don't have an iPaq or Palm, there's a great, free website here: http://www.fitday.com/WebFit/Index.html

I used to record everyting I ate (weight and totalt calories) on a nice little Excel document on my HP pocket-pc. Calories and food composition I got from http://www.foodcomp.dk/fcdb_default.htm. Low cost and designed just for my needs ![]() Last summer I kind of got a 'little' caried away with the whole "counting-planning-eating-adjusting" thing. So I ditched the pocket-pc and now just keep a running tally of energy intake in my head and add to this during the day, even more low budget and works fine. |
