130mm SS Hub?
I'm thinking of converting my old Cannondale R500 to a single speed for commuting. It's currently a 7 speed with a 130mm drop out spacing. All of the single speed hubs I've seen are 135mm, and I don't want to try jamming an oversized hub into that light of an aluminum frame. Does anyone know where to find 130mm single speed hubs?

You can get a 120mm hub (like a Surly, quite cheap), and just space out an extra 5mm on each side with a longer axle and some nuts and washers (hub must be a solid axle version). Your wheel will still be centered in the dropouts which is all you need to make sure of. Chainline will be slightly different but then you'll have to fiddle with that for perfection anyway. |

I am about to do the same thng and turn my road bike into a fixie. Might be a bit safer under braking than my track bike is
 )I am buying a White industries ENO http://www.whiteind.com/eno.htm the hub is on an eccentric axle The 7.5mm offset fixing bolts allow a rotation of 180 degrees for 15mm of travel. Tension is achieved by rotating the axles. The hub can be ordered in 28h, 32h or 36h for frame spacings of 126mm, 130mm or 135mm.
