Default Tourer - Cheviot SE or Cannondale T800/T2000 ?

I want a bike for fast touring, Audax events and the occasional loaded long tour. I have narrowed my options to the Cannondale T800 or T2000 or the Hewitt Chevoit SE. Anyone got any advice ?
The Cannondale looks a bit heavy in comparison to the Cheviot.
Ratty.

Can you ride both of them?
I have ridden Cannondales and like the ride both loaded and un-loaded.
I can't comment on the other bicycle as I have not seen it in the US.
Specified weights can be misleading and actual small differnces in bicycle weights often turn out to be 1% or less of the total weight differnce when you include the rider and touring load.
I would try them both in loaded and un-loaded applications before making a purchase decision.

Thanks for the reply. Difficult to test them at this time of year as stocks of last years model are fairly non-existent and the new 2005 models are only starting to arrive. Also mosts UK shops hold hardly any stock particularly Cannondale touring bikes yet they get so much comment in the USA and on this forum.
The bike frames are very different the Hewitt being a Reynolds 725 frame as opposed to the aluminium Cannondale. The majority of tourers in the UK seem to be Reynolds based rather than aluminium. The Hewitt is regarded as being one of the best value tourers around the £1000 mark and is built to order. But the Cannondale seems to be highly regarded both sides of the Atlantic.
