Default anyone here from vancouver?

I;m visting my friends in the city for a few weeks in december and would like to try and hire a bike to do some riding when I'm out there.

Anyone got any tips on where I might hire a decent road bike - preferably something reasonably light as I'd like to do some of the big hills / mountains.

ALso any recommended big climbs to do from the city. I know that there are several skiing areas nearby that sound like they might be fun?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

cheers

James

Not sure where you can rent decent road bikes in Vancouver, maybe check with some of the local shops when you get here.
As for the hills both Seymour and Cypress mountains are good climbs, they are on the North Shore, about 30-40 minutes ride from downtown Vancouver. The only problem in December may snow and ice on the road up.
How far you'll be able to climb will depend on the weather.
And speaking of weather it will most likely be raining at least some of the time you're here, so bring your rain gear

CHeers Eric

I'm in touch with Reckless who seem to rent road bikes - see what they're saying.

So it looks like the weather may be a big factor then. I guess it's not at all surprising that there's snow on the roads!

I guess I can check it out when I go boarding and see if it's do-able.

Be great if it happens but I guess I'll have to content myself with more boarding if it's not possible.

Thanks

James
