Default Gap Creek Road - Brisbane

Has anybody here been on this road? It loops around the back of Mt Cootha from The Gap to Kenmore. I'm going for a ride this weekend and thought it was a good, probably scenic extension from Settlement Rd to Mt. Cootha.

Anyway I don't know if the road is sealed or not, or how busy it is. All my mates have both said they haven't heard of it.

I used to ride alot around Mt Cootha, usually up and over it, I thought it was mostly mountain biking around the back of Mt Cootha, if you are after a really great scenic ride, do the loop out to Mt Nebo and back, now that is a scenic ride, one of the things I miss about being back in melbourne, mt cootha and mt nebo, the ride up Mt Nebo road though is pretty tough and it is a fair loop, depending on where you start from, I started from Nundah and rode out to samford, mt nebo road and back via the gap, the stretch from samford to mt nebo to the gap is just brilliant.

I've heard that it is great but for this wekend I have a BBQ on Sunday afternnon at Mt. Cootha and need to end up their. I could keep going straight from the Gap but that would make for a very big ride. How long do you think the Mt. Nebo route would be if I started from Ferny Grove (train station)?

Did you ever ride to Mt. Mee? I was going to do that last Sunday but the weather was awful.

Never got as far as Mt Mee, but quite often did a Sunday ride again from Nundah up to Dayboro (for a doghnut) then Samford and back, that was a great ride and "predominantly" flat, I think from memory, Mt Mee is not "that" much furthur from Dayboro another 20 kms ? Good road though and usually pretty quiet.

I used to go past Ferny Creek train station on the way back, would cut a fair bit of riding out, but you would still want to leave a good 3 or 4 hours for the ride, obviously depending on your riding level, all depends on how you handle the climb up Mt Nebo Road, I cant remember the sign post now, there is a sign post that says im sure "11%" gradient, it is 2 kilometres from that sign to the t-intersection where you head left to Mt Nebo, having shakes thinking about it now, can get very hot as well, depending on the time of the day.

Hey Mickeyoz - it's unsealed in sections - and fairly busy around lunch time - bbq and family outings - nice ride though - enjoy.
