I'd be rather surprised if there were not more deaths due to falling over while tying up shoelaces. I used to work in an office with windows which overlooked the entrance to a large posh and very expensive dept store. There was about one death every year in that store, we watched the ambulancemen carry the bodies out. We used to joke it was having a heart attack after reading the price ticket. But joking apart, it was obviously a rather dangerous place about which the Authorities ought to Have Done Something. At the very least there should have been warning notices. -- Chris Malcolm cam@infirmatics.ed.ac.uk +44 (0)131 651 3445 DoD #205 IPAB, Informatics, JCMB, King's Buildings, Edinburgh, EH9 3JZ, UK [http://www.dai.ed.ac.uk/homes/cam/] |

That's nothing - you should see how many people die each year at the local hospital. Bloody death trap. -- Joe * If I cannot be free I'll be cheap |

I guess that these figures are injuries while 'DIYing' (falling of ladders etc.) not injuries caused as a result of DIY (shelf falling on head etc.) The number of deaths attributed to electrical faults is quit elow - ISTR a figure of a round 10 pa., and most of those were down to faulty appliances, not fixed wiring. -- Chris French, Leeds |
