Default MET Helmet Replacement Policy

I recently had a fall off my bike and banged my head very hard on the road.

The helmet I have is a Met Ippogriffo.

Under the terms of the Met replacement policy, I am entitled to a replacement helmet at reduced cost provided I send back the old helmet, receipt and description of the accident.

Anyway, I emailed them earlier today explaining my situation and I received an email later today saying that I had to send a cheque for £35, plus send the old helmet back (P+P= £5). Seeing as the helmet originally cost me £45, this whole procedure is somewhat pointless.

If MET don't wish to honour a replacement warranty, in a reasonable manner, then they shouldn't use this policy as a marketing tool.

According to their website their Crash Replacement Policy is:
http://www.met-helmets.com/Page.jsp?naviga=3&idpag=6

"For your own Safety, if your MET helmet is damaged in a bicycle
accident within three years from the original date of purchase, Met will
replace it for a reduced fee.
To receive a new replacement helmet, contact the local Met distributor*
in order to know the exact cost of the replacement.
Send the damaged helmet to the distributor, postage paid, with an
original and dated proof of purchase, a check of the amount requested
for the replacement, and a letter describing the accident.

The damaged helmet will be replaced with the nearest model in price,
size and colour, available in the current product line."

It seems that what they have offered you is exactly in line with their
policy. At no point does it say what the price reduction will be but
you certainly have got a reduction both on what you paid and the RRP.
Were you expecting more than they were offering in their policy?

As always read the small print.
