Default Caboolture - Maleny

I'm planning a small weekend jaunt from Brisbane to Maleny (Witta to be exact)on a Saturday then back again the next day. The part of the route I'm not settled on is which way to go from Caboolture to Maleny. Should I head towards Woodford or go the most obvious way and climb from Landsborough?

I won't be on a tight schedule as I'll be catching the train to Caboolture to give me more time to smell the flowers along the way.

Also, I've planned to cut through the back of Witta and join up with the Obi Obi Road befroe turning right and riding to Mapleton. I drove along this road about 10 years ago and from memory it was fairly dangerous (and maybe gravel??). Any opinions on whether it is safe enough for bicycles.
