For sporty road bikes, Sigma Sport <http://www.sigmasport.co.uk/>.

For mountain bikes and more general cycling, Evans
<http://www.evanscycles.com/stores.jsp?item_id=44#store_80> or
Thameside Cycles in the Market Place. (Not sure they have a web site,
but well-stocked shop with knowledgeable staff).

http://www.waltoncycles.co.uk/ - they're a part of this group.

Agreed with the recommendations. However, I've sometimes found myself
nipping across town to Evans as Thameside didn't have what I wanted.

Is the bike shop on the London Road (Waldens or some such) still there?

At the junction with Cambridge Road? Yes it is, but it looks a bit run
down. I ride past it most days but I've not been in.

That's the one. It always used to have a BMX and a road bike or two in teh
window. Never been in there either despite going past it for years..

Other bike shops near K-u-T include Pitfield Cycles in New Malden which is a
good 'low end' shop. Under new management in the last few years.
