I am slowly but surely building myself up to commuting to work it is about
25 miles away with the first 15 being fairly hilly (mostly uphill) and the last 10 being flat 'ish'. I start work at 7 and work a 12 hour day so i will be waiting for some fairer weather also. how far do you commute to work. cheers Jon_H |

It's a convenient distance and quiet enough roads that I sometimes use it for unicycle practice. 2.5 miles into uni. Just started looking for a part time job and thinking about something a bit further away so I get some enforced exercise <prods stomach>. Not sure I'd like to do your 25 miles. Still, when you're doing it regularly, replacing those calories back be fun. mmmmmm c-a-k-e.. |

Thankfully almost totally flat miles (except for half a dozen bridges) along reasonable cycle paths. Only take the trike 3 days a week, and the car the other 2 , or I'd have to go to bed by the time I get home. The weather is not much of a problem since the trike is fully faired, but riding for almost 2 hours, standing on my hind feet for 8 and then riding another 2 is. I usually need half the return journey to get up to speed again; good thing most racing cyclists appear in the second half <grin>. And yes, with this kind of mileage you can eat everything! As it's through London, it's much quicker than driving. Pete |

On a good day with a tail wind I can be showered and at my desk for 7am, on a bad day 7.10am. Coming home I try to get out of the office by 3.30pm, it takes me 15 minutes to get changed and get to my bike, I am usually home around 5.30pm. It's tough sometimes, I don't mind admitting, especially getting up at that time. But always, by the time I've been in the saddle for 10 minutes I'm glad I do it. I feel fantastic by the time I get to work, and absolutely ravenous...I eat straightaway and then go for breakfast again at 9am. I get a bit tired sometimes just before I'm due to leave, but I get a second wind once I'm on the bike, and crack on home. I eat well, and sleep well on my bike commute days! -- Mark (MSA) ______________________________________________ Remember, half the people you know are below average |
