Default Around Ireland Charity Bike Ride

A group from work are planning a charity bike ride around Ireland in aid of Cancer & Leukemia in Childhood (CLIC). We plan to start cycling from Dublin on the 4th June 2005 and take 2 weeks to basically ride the circumference. Proposed overnight stops are as follows:-

1 Newrey 77.80miles
2 Belfast 71.50miles
3 Bushmills 81.10miles
4 Londonderry 61.80miles
5 Dunfanaghy 66.10miles
6 Donegal 79.40miles
7 Ballina 83.90miles
8 Galway 97.10miles
9 Limerick 64.50miles
10 Cork 65.70miles
11 Waterford 78.00miles
12 Wexford 44.60miles
13 Wicklow 57.30miles
14 Dublin 45.90miles

However this may change as it's been pointed out that we have missed one of the most beautiful areas out (SW Penninsula).

I would be grateful if you could let us have any advice, ideas for places to stop overnight, best routes from location to location, things to do in the evenings, etc.

Cheers,

Andy Birch

Dear Andy

I wondered how your plans for the CLIC 'round Ireland were going

Although I live in London, I've got plenty of friends in Ireland who would sponsor me

Let me know if its going ahead and if you have any places. My email is steve@thebrinks.co.uk

Steve

Hi everyone,

As with all the best layed plans, the dates for the trip have had to be changed. Also there is a possibility that places may be available if anyone is interested.

The revised dates are going to be 19th August to 4th September and the revised route being:-

Day Miles

- Dublin 0.00

1 Newrey 77.80

2 Belfast 71.50

3 Bushmills 81.10

4 Londonderry 61.80

5 Dunfanaghy 66.10

6 Donegal 79.40

7 Ballina 83.90

8 Galway 72.20

9 Limerick 59.40

10 Killarney 93.40

11 Skibbereen 67.80

12 Cork 57.40

13 Waterford 78.00

14 Gorey 62.30

15 Dublin 71.80

Total 1083.90

Average 72.26

If anyone is interested then let me know a.s.a.p. so I can make the arrangements. I should warn you that we would be looking for a minimum of £1000 in sponsorship, together with a small contribution towards the accommodation costs. All transport costs will be covered.

If you have any questions, again, please contact me.

Regards,

Andy.
