I've got a 1997 XTR M950 rear derailleur, rapid rise. It has always worked great. I recently upgraded the shifters, cassette, cranks and chain to 9 speed XTR thanks to some bargains on eBay. Will my rear derailleur be compatable with a M953 12-34 cassette? I previously had a M950 12-32 cassette for the 8 speed system. Does anyone have any experience with this that can offer any advice?

it should work but probably not all that well, i would upgrade to a newer deraleur anyway, then its all fresh, you wont have any problems and it will last better and probably smoother shifting
