Default New York City Bike Month

Talia Lempert is a NYC artist who does paintings on canvas of bicycles, all kinds of bicycles.

She sent me this information regarding Bike Month in NYC. I thought I would pass it along...

May is NYC bike month & there’s a bunch of great stuff going on,

A full listing is here at http://www.transalt.org/calendar/bikemonth2005/

Here are a few things I’m doing, I hope you can make it to some of them!

It all starts with a show of my work at the Brooklyn Brewery

opening Friday April 29th 7-10 pm and funs from April 29 – May 29, 2005
Hours: Friday 6-10pm, Saturday 12-5

This link has an invite & more information

On Thursday, May 5th I’ll be hosting a bicycle drawing class in my studio,

This is the third year for this event, it’s a lot of fun, the class size is small so register early

On Friday May 6th, 7-11 there’s an art auction to benefit the Cycle Messenger World Championships 2005.

http://www.nybma.com/cmwc2005/

The auction will be a great pre event for the CMWC, with dinner and dancing as well.

I have a piece to auction; more information is at this link

I’m unfortunately missing the opening of a show I’ve been putting together with Brent Barbur for the Bicycle Film Festival,

It’s called Street opens on May 12th, 6-10pm, at Anthology Film Archives 32 2nd Avenue, NYC

We found some really great art dealing with bicycle love featuring

Amy Bulger, Ashira Segal, The Mustache riders, Eddie williams, John Furgason & Carlos Little, Patrick Trefz and a few of my own pieces.

It and runs through the 15th, as does the festival,

The Civic Riders are throwing a Bicycle Fetish Block Party

May 28 (Saturday): 12:00 PM-6:00 PM

http://www.cityreliquary.org/civicriders/

It’s on Havemeyer Street between Grand and Hope Streets (Brooklyn)
The block will be closed to all vehicular traffic and open to all people who have fetishized their beloved bicycles. In the typical car show style, bicycles of all genres will be lined up for showing off to all the passersby and fellow bicycle enthusiasts. This event will bring together the many diverse cycling clubs and styles of New York City. Representing their unique styles will be clubs such as; The Civic Riders Bicycle Club, The Moustache Riders, Classic Riders Bicycle Club, Puerto Rico Schwinn Club, Black Label Bicycle Club, Bicycle Works NYC, Bicycle Cherry, Foodswings, NYC Bikes, as well as unaffiliated individuals on low-riders, track, vintage, mountain and home-made bikes plus so many more! There will be contests, food, music and prizes by local bicycle friendly vendors. Get out the polish and chamois. I’ll be one of the judges!

Cheers!

Taliah
