I am training for a century ride June 5. I will be visiting a friend in Islington for a week starting Tuesday -- I am trying to decide:
1. Whether to bring my own bicycle (a Bianchi Eros Donna) or whether I can rent something acceptable enough for the week I'm there. I suspect my road bike isn't necessarily the best choice in London traffic. 2. Whether there is even some route I could ride near Islington for 20 - 30 miles per day to avoid atrophying while I'm over there. Thanks -- any advice appreciated! Heidi |

londons roads arent the most cycing friendly and islington is right in the centre but you might consider either:
- head north up the holloway road and then when you reach finchley its all a bit quieter and you could make somethign up as you go - head south down the farringdon road until you hit the embankment, that can be followed all the way upriver to putney bridge - mostly quite scenic - where you are a couple of miles from richmond park. v popular with serious cyclists - a lap is 7 miles. - from angel it is about a mile to regents park. the outer circle is used by some to do laps of about 2 miles each. (the only place i can think of in london where you can ride hard without fear, and without having to stop at constant junctions).
