Default flying with a Brompton

I've just got myself a nice shiny new Brompton L6, and I plan to take it for a few weeks holiday in France.

The bike will be flying across, and I've never flown with a bike before (folding or otherwise) and I'd just like to know if anyone has any advice. Do the tires have to be deflated before flight etc? Will the Brompton in its carry bag stand up to the rigours of baggage handlers or will I have to crate it up and surround it in bubble wrap etc...

Thanks
