Default Going to see the Tour

For anyone heading to France to catch the Tour this year, I'm putting up a practical guide at www.cyclotourist.net/roadsidetour . Only 2 stages up so far, but there's info about where to watch, what times roads close, local events, etc.

Thumbs up Re: Going to see the Tour

I'm going to watch tdf for first time this year and this info is really useful. Good to know as well what's going on and whats to see in the area after the peloton comes through. I'm going to all the pyrennes stages - any more info on those? Cheers mate!

Of the couple stages I am going to see, you've got info for one of them (stage 14). Great stuff. Veri helpful. Merci!

Is it reasonable to think we can get a train from Paris to Saint-Etienne - lets say leave Paris as late as possible Thurs that would get us to Saint-Etienne in the wee hours, see some of the TT and get back to Paris that night?

Yes, definitely. I'm thinking about doing the same thing - although don't you mean Friday night train to St Etienne? I'm possibly even going to leave early on the Sat morning (there is a train from Paris at 7am, gets to St Etienne 9.41am) and return after the TT (last train to PAris 18.45). But I live in Paris and don't want to pay for a hotel in St Etienne!

60 euro per person each way, a little much, My concern is if you get there at 10am by the time you make your way to the TT its gona be hard to find a decent place to see it from don't ya think? If we do it, we would likely take the 11pm train TGV to lyon then to st. etienne by 3:30am then take as late a train as we can back to paris and go directly to the champs (before sunrise)

Just to say that anyone going to see stage 15 will find practical info at http://www.cyclotourist.net/roadsidetour/stage15.html . I really was planning to get much more info up on my site, but time has been lacking. Other stage I will definitely put up is Paris.
