Listening to your body is an obvious answer but using a PM is an effort to eliminate that subjective element so how do you quantify where the edge is before you go over it? Is there any data that is predictive of the next few days or week's performance?

If you use CyclingPeaks, TSS will quantify training volume. With experience you'll learn to identify trends. There are some who use rolling averages of TSS over different time periods. I started doing this earlier in the year and it's worked pretty well. Dave Harris over at Wattage came up with the idea to use Rolling TSS and gives some good advice here: http://lists.topica.com/lists/watta...l?mid=909272952 |

Thanks for the link. Too bad cyclingpeaks doesn't do moving averages of TSS - I just want the answers and it works so well for that generally.

Hang in there - there are some really big things on the horizon that will make use of rolling averages look like child's play!* ![]() *I'm joking, of course - Dave's implementation of rolling averages over various time spans was quite insightful of him. However, even he has now moved on to this new approach, writing to me that "A large part of this season's success is due to lessons learned with [the Training Manager], have I said thanks lately?" |

Andy, Is this going to be included in v2 of CyclingPeaks? Any idea when it's due to come out? Thanks, Jimmy |

Hope it's released soon, I don't want to have to dig out the neural net data mining software again... |

There is a version 2.0 (or 1.5) of CyclingPeaks in the works, but I don't know when it might be finished and released. It probably won't include what I've started calling the "Training Manager", though. |

OK, next question is do you need another beta tester for the training manager? If it works for me, old fart with a kidney transplant and the associated drugs that mess with recovery, it will work for anyone. |
