Default Front bike light won't fit

I have a handlebar (Bontrager Race X Lite, carbon, 31.8) which I am trying to fit a cateye HL-EL500 headlight. The diameter of the handlebar is too large to fit the mounting bracket that came with the light. Please let me know if there are any changes I can make to the light or accessories I can buy which would help me install this on my handlebar, thanks for your help.
