Default Random Tour tech thoughts

I can be kind of a tech geek, and so I thought it might be nice to have a thread on Tour tech. A few observations:

Vino was using Bobby Julich style O-Symetric chainrings on the TT yesterday.

Vino also didn't seem to be using a very areo front wheel.

Why did Disco forgoe a rear disc on the TT?

Gerolsteiner used a very interesting aero bar during the TT -- it combined the braking wings with the aero extensions.

Despite what cycingnews.com reported, Ulle was definitely riding Lightweight wheels during the mountain stages.

The carbon rim is now nearly universal. Only Mavic doesn't seem to produce one, though Shimano still doesn't market any.

Non-carbon bikes are becoming very hard to find in the TdF peloton.
