Default Armstrong's Party on Sunday night....

It was confirmed in this mornings London Times that Jan Ullrich was invited and attended with his girlfriend Lance Armstrong's farewell party a the Musee d'Orsay (which is my favorite art gallery in the world)......

Would of liked to be a fly on the wall for some of the drunkin' discussions between Jan, Lance and Johan.......

.....any guesses to what was said ?

Maybe ! I bet Jan would of pumped the beers better than the Disco boys.... way more practise !

I reckon Jan would be a good tie over for the next couple of years until Popo is ready to take on the overall.....

According to Bild newspaper, this is part of LA said at a party at the Ritz (one of several for LA), probably when he was joking with JU:

"Zu seinem Sportlichen Leiter Johan Bruyneel von Discovery Channel hat er laut „Financial Times“ gesagt: „Laß uns Jan als meinen Nachfolger holen. Mit meiner Hilfe gewinnt er wieder die Tour.“

Roughly translated that means:

"To his DS Johan Bruyneel, LA said, according to the Financial Times: Let's get JU to be my successor [on DC]. With my help, he will win the Tour again!"

If true, what do you think went through Jan's mind?
100% not interested?
A little bit interested?
Very interested but stuck due to contractual obligations?

It would be a perfect fit. Jan could train in the hill country by LA's house and base his winterhome in New Braunfel,Texas. It is a great city in Texas known for it's German culture. They even have a festival there that would catch Jan's interest called Wurstfest.
Bruyneel has the team to get him on the podium. Why not ?

This appeared on another thread but its worth printing in full here:

The final party at the Ritz? Just an intimate gathering of 600 of your closest friends and a handful of celebrities to toast the team and staff on yet another job well done. Special guests included Eki, who gave an update on his condition and announced he hopes to race again this season, and Triki Beltran, who in his best English possible explained he was OK after the crash that took him out of the Tour and how privileged he felt riding for this team. Every rider had a chance to soak in the crowd's applause and say a few words on the race and even a good-bye to Lance before the seven-time Tour winner himself gave his final post-Tour speech. Just as the speeches were coming to a close and the dj was about to launch an offensive to get the night going - all this at almost 1am - one more guest arrived, Jan Ullrich. Then, in perhaps a one in a million moment, Lance and Jan shared the stage and both saluted each other for their great battles over the years. Someone in the crowd shouted - "We love you Jan!" causing Lance to say "see, they like you better than they like me." Jan said he wasn't used to such a big crowd and after a few words, the pair was off the stage, their rivalry official ended.

The night lasted until about 3:30am before the plug was pulled on the sound and the 2005 Tour was officially history.

Perhaps that's been a motivating factor for Armstrong over the years. Jan gets all the girls so Lance wins all the races.
