Default flat handle bar width

Hello,
I've got a flat handle bar for my cross country bike
The handle bar width is 580mm,
My shoulder wide is around 400mm (c to c)
I think the bar is a bit wide for me
After few hours cross country riding, my hand feel pain and my arm feel tired

But I don't know which width fit me most, I've got bar end on my handle bar
If I cut it too narrow will result too hard to control the bike
What is your opinion?
Thanks Brothers

Default Re: flat handle bar width

I suggest you get professionally set up. There may be more to it than just bar width, the bike may be too big or you may not be seated correctly. Too many variables for a forum question.

http://www.wrenchscience.com there is a self measuring page for MTB and Road there...
