Default Parramatta Critical Mass??

I know this is a bit of a repeat but other was buried at end of a long thread.

Any of you up for a revival of Parramatta C-Mass?

Plenty of issues for cyclists around the Westfield's development.

Come to Parra town hall at 5:30 - 6 on Thurday (4th Aug)

We can decide on route length etc. on the night.

Or I'll get lonely

Scotty

So far there are about 4 or 5 people who are definites or probablies.

So hopefully, we'll have enough bodies to get noticed to get noticed.

I did up a proposed route (which is merely a suggestion).

Easy, fairly flat (one small exception - O'Connell Street past Westfield) about 7-8 kms.

Start and finish Church Street.

Keeps away from Great W Hwy and focuses on Macquarie George O'Connell etc where traffic speeds are low anyway. (safer for a small group)

Have a look and comment plz

Default reply from CAMWEST

i got a reply from CAMWEST!

Dear Robert,

WE are still in existence but mainly correspond these days through email via camwest-discuss@nicku.org. We continue to be active in advocacy but dont get together for rides very often. I'll let our webmaster know of the email bounce. There used to be a Parramatta Critical Mass for a while but never had the numbers build to remain viable. Happy to talk with you about it most weeknights on 9633 9185. You can promote your endeavours via the above email list for camwest.

went on a critical mass ride on Friday with scott....

rode into city from parra.... nice ride

critical mass was good fun... very safe with lots of cops on bikes escorting the group

riders were friendly and good spirited, and other pedestrians and drivers were cool with it

i think it certainly has the correct intended effect of raising profile of alternative transport to cars... the ride "leaders" and cops made sure everyone was well behaved and courteous, which is great for promoting cycling

all in all, after attending my first one, i believe it is a worthwhile cause....

scott, thanks for introing it to me
