Default Flyer -- What would a mix of sleeping pills and stimulants do?

As reported in a thread on this forum, what would this mix do (say Valium and ephedrine/amphetamine). It seems to be similar in construct to the Pot Belge idea of mixing stimulants (Coke) with downers/euphorics -- morphine and heroin. Morphine would kill the pain no doubt.

Benzodiazipines are prescribed for back-pain as well as anxiety disorders etc and the ephedrine must overcome the effects of delayed reaction time etc. Or would the sleeping pills have been a barbituate or opioid? These would cause the muscles to relax...no?
Speculation please...

Just don't take a laxative with that combination.
