Default Minimalist 3 day+ tour

Minimum essentials?
I will be cycling around the Izu peninsula on Honshu in Japan, probably staying at youth hostels/on a ferry overnight. I am not too concerned about rain, its hot and if it rains, so be it. I want to only take a front bar bag.

In the front bag: (not including what I am wearing)
1 cycling shirt
1 pair of cycling shorts
1 Pair of reg sports shorts
Camera
wallet/ID/Money/Insu card
Sandals
Sunscreen/soap/toothbrush/paste
extra food
maybe a book

Saddle bag (all typical cycling essentials/flat repair tools)

Anything else I need? Everything will be sealed in plastic bags (double for the expensive camera)...

Anything else?

Why do you need 2 cycle shorts and shirts?

I bought a collared shirt that looks reasonably neat from Kathmandu thats made from Coolmax. Dries quickly and compacts to zip.
Wash your one piar of cycling clothes easch night using shampoo.

I use recess cleat shoes such as shimano SHM 038 with speedplay frogs so that I dont need sandals. You do need a pair of socks though.

I carry 2 spare tubes
! x puncture kit
2, 2.5, 3, 4 and 5 mm allen keys
3 tire levers
Spare cables
spare chain links
spoke wrench.
in a waterbottle container.

Why do you need the saddle bag??
Do a trial run to make sure everything fits and works.

Cheers

Geoff
