I took a mountain bike handlebar and brake levers and mounted them on my stock stem. I am using stem index shifters though. Trigger shifters and some 30 'cross tires are next on my list.

A flat bar? Bah! Bullhorns with bar end shifters and aero brake levers.

You could just swap your stem for a more upright one and add CX brake levers to the tops.

Any suppliers you could recommend of this type of bar on the net?

Any shop that sells Shimano can get these: http://www.pro-bikegear.nl/2006/ I am thinking about Bullhorns for one of my bikes.
