Default Powertap - memory questions

Hi there,

Just got hold of a PT SL and fitted it last night. I've a number of questions revolving around the ride data. FYI, I'm just using the Link software at the moment but will be getting hold of a copy of CP in the near future.

i) Say I do two rides in a day (separated by a few hours) and don't download in between. When I get back to base, can I download both of the rides? Can I choose which to download?
ii) I assume I need to clear downloaded ride data from the CPU. How do I do this? Can I select which rides to discard (a la Polar HRMs) or is it a case of zapping the whole lot?

Thanks for any advice or pointer on how you manage the data. The literature provided with the unit isn't that illuminating.

i) With CP, all memory data will download (no choices). Don't know about the Link software. You'll have to sort out the 2 rides in the software.
ii) Clear the CPU by holding down both buttons for ~2 seconds and release when the screen shows "- clr -". That will zap the whole lot and there's nothing you can do about that.

I download after every ride (or at least every day) and do all the management in software. I'm not aware that there's any other choice.

Thanks for the info. What software do you use?

Actually, when you click the download button in CP, you will get a window showing each "ride" currently in the PT CPU. The number of rides that can be stored is a function of your storage frequency setting in the PT CPU (max total minutes, not rides). In July, I spent 4 days in Newport Beach and didn't have my computer with CP installed. When I returned, all 4 rides were still in the PT CPU. After CP has read the data from the PT CPU, the download window shows the date of each ride and duration. If it interprets two rides on the same day as distinct rides (due to a long time gap between rides), you can separately drag and drop them onto the same row in the calendar screen and it will merge them as one ride. If you want to keep them as distinct rides, you can drag and drop them onto different rows.

P.S., I use only CP. I have never taken my Link software out of the sleeve. CP is awesome and has several unique and extremely useful functions such as NP, TSS and IF. I think a future release will include the "Training Manager" that Andy C has talked about.

Misc notes: one can go into the .csv file and cut and paste, thus in effect splitting your one file into two (two rides).
Also, if you hold both buttons down too long, you will enter the setup mode. This will not erase memory. In order to clear the memory the buttons must be released in the 'clr' mode.
