Default Hollowgram SRM or Powertap SL?

Ok, for sure Im getting a new Cannondale next year. Im thinking the Six13 with the SRM built into the Hollowgram SI crankset, or the Dura Ace crank with a Powertap SL rear wheel. They would both come out to be about the same price, but I want to get the absloute best powermeter I can get. Of course I would like to do quite a bit of racing on it. I know they are both great systems. But I would like to know which one would be better for training and racing?

Which SRM? Makes a big difference.

The Cannondale one is either 4 or 8 strain gauges. The only 2 strain gauge model is, I believe, the amateur model.

If it's the SRM Pro, I'd go with that. It's a little more high-maintenance (re-calibration), but you can then switch wheel sets for training and racing (including discs). It should be worth quite a bit more in the resale market as well. The SRM Pro costs ~3x the PT SL. I think they're both accurate enough for most training and racing applications, but you'll definitely be "the man" when you wheel up to the start line with the SRM Pro.

The SRM Pro has an optional (~$1K) feature that allows you to analyze your application of power (symmetrical/non-symmetrical) through the full range of the stroke, but only for use on a trainer because it requires a hard-wired connection to a PC.

check out http://www.midweekclub.com/powerFAQ.htm
especially #8

IMO the SRM is much robust in construction, cabling and can withstand damp conditions much better. The interval function is more logical and easier to use.

Downside is the SRM $$$ !!!
