Well we started!!

I just got back from the secondary schools cycling nats. It was a three day event. The first race was a team time trail. I had a team of five. Well we started the time trail. It was 16kms long. Our start was a bit messed up because the girl(amelia) who was ment to be third jumped in second in front of me, so I was like ok then. We went along like 200meters then there was a little hill we had to come up. The first girl(chloe) lapped off the front and thats was all good. Second girl lapped off(that was ment to be me but amelia took over). Near the top of the hill I started top lap off. Then i felt the worst thing I could have felt. My rear tire rubbing against the girls behind me(ashmin) front tire. I sped up a bit. Then i heard the crash. I looked behind me. There was three of my team was lying on the ground. Oh fuzz balls. I jumped off y bike and threw it to the side the road and ran back to the girls. I passed two bikes on the way and I halled them all off the road. Chloe had gone down last but was the first I came to, she was up and walking about rushing to the other girls. She had gotten off the road, Which was good. Next was monique, she was still lying down but she had amelia looking at her. Amelia was right at the back, lucky she didnt go down. Last I came to poor little ashmin. She was worst off. She was screaming her head off. Shes only 14 years old and this was her first "team crash". Lucky there was heaps of people around so someone ran back to the start line to get the amblulance(sp?). Ashmin was in pretty bad shape. She hit her head really hard on the road, it was a full face plant. Lucky her helmet saved her face. She rolled a bit then got run over by monique. Monique got air borne over ashmin, she landed on her arm/head. The last girl(chloe) went down on her arm. The amblulance arrived and got chloe, monique and amelia off the road. We didnt move ashmin because we thought she had done something to her neck/back/head. We had 2 doctors arrived(Yay). One checked over ashmin and the other checked over the other three. I was still with ashmin and hold her head still. She was put on to the amblulance bed and put in the amblulance. She had a necl brace on and all the works. Chloe walked down to the start line(:eek. Amelia started to hyperventilate and had to go in the amblulance. There was one more space so Ashmin's mum went in.

I jumped in to a car to go the hospital. The bikes where taken back down to the start line by my other team members. I arrived before the amblulance so i had a bit of a wait. The amblulance arrived and amelia was sitting in a wheel chair, monique was standing and ashmin lying on the bed. We had a short wait and then we were moved in to a cubical thingy. Ashmin was shifted on to another bed. Monique sat down and amelia got cleared pretty quicky. Two hours later ash was shifted again because they needed the cubical. Monique was put in the waiting room( go New Zealand hospitals!). Another two hours later, Ashmin was sent off for x-rays. Monique was still waiting to be seen. Another hour later monique was sent off for x-rays. We still dont think she has broken anything but shes going to go in for more x-rays to make sure. Ashmin was let out after a NINE hour vist!!!!!!! She hadnt broken anything(yay!) We made her walk back to the motel. It was only 100m. We took it slowly and she made it back fine.

The next day I went to check on how ashmin was doing. I knocked on her door and went in. She was sitting on the edge of her bed and her dad was putting banages on her knees and elbows. But she was sitting there in her cycling gear ready to ride the next race!!!!!. That girl has guts man. Amelia did not ride because of other reasons. Monique had her arm in a sling. But Chloe rode as well. It was short 16km ride. Both girls finshed the race. No placings but they finshed!! Everyone in my team was so pround of the girls.

Well that was the first and second race the third was cancelled. The water was knee deep in places!!
