I am interested to know what what peopel require as training and and what they require from these training aids. This is with particular respect to cycle computers, heart rate monitors and gps system.
For Refrence I am undertaking a design project to design a new all inclusive cycle training/monitoring aid.
Opinions would be much appreciated

The most basic aid you can have is a Heart Rate Monitor. There's a variety of ways to train using an HRM, but the most basic follows a principle of "zones" in which one trains for certain times in a certain zone.
The next best tool to have for cycling would be a power meter, but this is more of a road bike training tool then for mountain biking. Lastly, most mountain biking pros do most of their cycling training on a road bike. Here, a cycling computer with Cadence is helpful, especially if your doing alot of your training indoors on a stationery trainer. After a full winter of indoor training, working on keeping my cadence in the 90-95 rpm zone at various intensity levels, my mountain biking "spin" has gotten smoother and I am seeing alot more power, especially climbing. |

I have and use the Polar 725x multisport with speed & cadence monitors. excellent!
