I have wind of news that Tristan Barnes has broken the Sydney to Perth cycling record. You may have seen it in the paper. He was doing it to fundraise and increase awareness of the Oaktree Foundation, Australia’s first youth-run Aid and Development organisation, which runs educational projects tackling poverty and other problems in Africa and Asia. He’d set himself the goal of riding 4000 km in nine days, riding 450km and 20 hours a day! He had to deal with headwinds, thunderstorms and a torn thigh muscle and ended up 10hrs below the previous record. Do we have any challengers?
