I am switching from a hardtail to full suspension mtb...i am looking at the Trek Fuel EX 9.5 or Fuel EX 9...is it worth the money to get the carbon frame over the ZR9000 alloy?...what would be the benefits of a carbon frame for XC riding/racing...i ride/race in north texas if that helps.
thanks |

If you ride like I do, a carbon frame is NOT a good idea for a normal riding rig. A race only rig, sure, but carbon frames DO crack, and I ride hard. I prefer aluminum for its heads over heels durability.
In fact one of the techs at my LBS just broke his Trek OCLV hardtail when he got into a crash on the race course. Not covered by warranty. Ouch. At least the alum. would have just dinged.
