Default Is there a trainer with a powermeter in the market?

Does anyone know if there exists a powermeter that reads power outputs from a trainer? Or maybe a trainer that has inbuilt power outout functions?
I do NOT want to attach any power reading equipment to bikes.

Any ideas anyone?
Oh yes, one of the primary reasons for this question is that I cannot spend huge amounts of moula.

http://www.bicyclepower.co.za/products_cycleops.php

This is your best option - a great piece of kit. Could even buy from us in Cape Town and get a good exchange ?

To be honest Im not sure - this is a partner of mine who is the PT agent for ZAR - I have worked with Hunter quite a lot as I was originally agent for Ergomo here. I will ask him when I see him next ...

The kurt kinetic trainer is probably a lot cheaper, and seems to be accurate (they claim + or - 3% with a powertap, which is in line with everything I have heard) for steady-state efforts. The trainer and the computer which calculates power is ~$350 U.S.

So does any sensor from the computer need to be hooked up to the bike? I do not care about cadence.
Like I mentioned, we cannot make modifications to the bike or add sensors/computers to the bikes themselves.

Why not? Where would you like to hook the display?

then Tacx has the Flow Ergometer, for roughly 550$ US.

You still need to hook the display to the handle bar, but you don't even need a screwdriver to do it.

But you may not get the cadence, which requires more installation.

There is no cheap powermeter that works on a trainer. Forget it unless you want to invent and distribute it.

If you like computers, then you may be interested to know that the "Flow" hardware, can be connected with a computer for virtual realilty, by buying a little interface. That interface replaces the power meter display, and converts the "Flow" into an iMagic.

Cheers

Cycleops has a spin bike that has a Powertap on it, I think retail is about 2k.

Sounds like the 'Borg' are getting into cycling now.

And the French complained that Lance was mechanical in his bike racing...

Yes, us robots are going to take on the world on bikes.
But really, back in the late 70's we didn't even have HR monitors. Reminds me of my steel raleigh with the brooks saddle. And Chasing slow military trucks in the morning with the guys cheering us with awe...
