How many other 41 year olds would be able to get out pedalling with a professional cycling team?
http://www.cyclingnews.com/photos.p...olvang/P1010054 Fair dues to ya, Bjarne.

Not only did you get your colloquialisms confused - you seem to ignore the fact that Sean Yates was still racing at amateur level in the UK up until 2004. But I guess they don't tell you that on paceline or whatever other site you get your info from.

No, Sean Yates isn't from my country. Do both of your identities suffer from a complete lack of brainpower? First your get the colloquialisms confused and now you can't identify where Yates is from. But thanks for proving a point that I was making elsewhere.

I think the point that you have amply displayed is how seriously you take yourself, lack a sense of humor, and are an irritating prig. Instead of simply resonding to the joke you have to dissect because you dont want to give credit to someone affiliated with Disco. I thought the idea of your post was to give hats off to an oldtimer who can hold his own with a procycling team? Fair enough. But because Bobke responded with Sean Yates, a guy from your neck of the woods if not exactly from your shire, (frankly I could not care less where the hell you are from) but because Sean is allied with Lance and Disco you could not respond to the joke or the post. Well right back at you, you ask if there's a forty year old who can stay with a procycling team? Here's one--and one who just kicked the ass of almost everyone in the race including Mr. Riis' team--posted one of the fastest prologue times in the Tour de California: V. Ekimov.

I guess the bottom line here is quite a few. Riis looked fat actually. Sean Yates, Ekimov etc etc. Oh well.

Ekimov did a great ride! He not only can do a training ride like Riis or Yates, he can still kick serious but in a world class race. |

Riis and Yates have both retired. Ekimov hasn't.

I'm impressed with Riis' 'management style.' I don't know how many other team owners/managers join their teams on training ride but I suspect most of them sit in a pace car.
Quote:
As for Mr. hombredesubaru's astute observation about Eki vs. Team CSC... just brilliant! Eki finished behind 6 of 8 Team CSC riders. But he sure kicked the butts of the other two! We'll see how the rest of the race plays out and whether Team CSC are worthy of praise. |
