Post Cyclocross Bike

I am looking to purchase a cyclocross bike for some beginner cyclocross racing and some commuting. I have about $1500.00 to spend on it and I would like some recommendations on which bikes are worth it. Should I just build the bike up from scratch and get a Redline Conquest Pro frameset since it seems to be the standard for cyclocross. I would also want an aluminum frame. Any ideas??

thanks
