Default don't do the crime(s) if you can't do 1/5 of the time

abramoff is tried, convicted and sentenced.

his sentencing was quite lenient to say the least, as he was facing 5 times the time he got handed for the short list of crimes with which he was charged.

also he was not taken away in shackles, as is the custom with both the common citizenry and certainly, the native americans whom he swindled.

ah, the land of the free and the home of the lenient white collar sentences...

I saw that on your link : he appears to have gotten a lenient sentence.

He can keep the bed warm for Libby!

Take your dog & pony show elsewhere, DR, because no one on this forum is going to buy it, except perhaps one of your fellow traveller's like Wolfux.

That may preface the possibility (probability?) that he coughed up bigger fish in exchange for leniency. Let's hope so.

it is true that the official line given for abramoff being given delayed custody was so he could help with pending cases...and when the latest tally shows 75 million spent on political "lobbyist" contributions to about 500 members of congress...
there may well be some repercussions for the good ol' boy network.

seems there are others without the preferential treatment who are
"down by law" right after sentencing under such circumstances.

the local best boy, 4th cong. dist john doolittle has been squirming as things blow up for him. heartbreaking. unlike abramoff, he took the path of denial when confronted.
the trail of tainted love money was spread far and wide, a true inbred affair.

www.tpmmuckraker.com/archives/cats/john_doolittle/

abramoff openly mocked the indigenous bands from which he embezzeled, calling them troglodytes.

here comes the judge...
www.post-gazette.com/pg/05331/612536.stm
his honor reggie walton, the man for the job. judges do not take kindly to those who lie to the grand jury, one would think...the only thing certain that would let libby scoot is if damning documents have classified status during the trial. this would be true obstruction of justice at the highest levels.
otherwise, it is welcome to the neighborhood for scooter.

No doubt BushCo is pushing for that very thing, (documents being suddenly "classified in the interest of national security") as they have done all along their years in office to hide evidence of their criminality.

These bastards are rotten to the core, every single one of them.
