I'm a fairly new biker from Massachusetts who hasn't really ventured much outside of my home state and I'm planning on riding from Springfield, MA to King of Prussia, PA but I'm not sure how to do that without using any major highways and I also don't want to go through any bad sections of town...does anyone have any advice on how I should go about planning this trip?

Hey, I myself am new and will be planning a short (probably only 100 miles) trip in May. I got two bike route maps at the bike shop, they're free. Also, I live in NY, and I did a search for bike routes and found a state page. So try that for your general routes. At the park here I got a bike map which also shows road conditions, ie; heavy traffic, and so on. Just a couple places for you to try. Good luck and have fun!
