What do people think about splitting the long ride

Say ride in the morning 2:30hr then have lunch be a person for a while see people and do life!!!!!
Then ride in the afternoon say another 2:30 hr or so.

I know that there was some running data on this what about cycling?

Tri boys do this all the time?

Any benefits to cycling?????

Depends what you are trying to acheive and how it fits into your general program and goals.

Just to add on to what 2Lap said, there's advantages and disadvantages for both methods, it really depends on your goals and your time available.

Kiwiboy:

You can do multiple workouts as much as you want, but it is mentally and logistically easier to do one ride a day. You will get the same or close to the same benefit if you did 2 x 100 km rides as if you one 200 km ride, as long as you don't let too many hours pass between workouts.

But again, I think it's a lot easier to just do 200 km and get it over with. If it doesn't bother you, split up your rides and see if it works for your program.

Good luck!!!

I tend to attack a second ride as if it were the only one since I've 'forgotten' that I already rode. SOmewhere around the 20th mile my legs remind me. But if I were really thinking about riding to get faster I dont' think it would make any difference because I'd be working out, not just goin' for a rid.e
