Question UHU Glue - can it be used?

Hi guys,

I had a flat on the way home; piece of copper went straight through and saw me walking a couple miles.

I got home and couldn't find any galvanising glue, the type you get with the repair kit. But..I noticed a large tube of that yellow UHU general-purpose glue. It says it can bond leather, plastic and paper but nothing is mentioned about rubber.

I just wonder if anyone would recommend it? It seemed to dry extremely quick and I haven't inflated the tube yet. I just wondered if it's advisable to use this stuff.

Thanks guys

I let it dry for about hour and a half. My Brother wanted to vote in the elections so I lent him the bike to test the fixed flat. I pumped the tyre upto around 31psi and he came back still rolling. I have now let it down again to 10psi overnight.

BTW sorry I forgot to mention, but the actual flat was very small..the tube was pricked by a triangle-shaped bit of copper as we have tons of factories near us and the roads are always filthy. My front tyre has slime in it and has never had a flat in 2 years since I filled it.

Will report back tomorrow

rather than experimenting with different sticky substances (aye aye sailor), why not buy a new innertube now you are home and buy a proper repair kit for emergencies!!

It is useful to know what can be used in an emergency, a while back someone posted that they'd repaired an inner-tube with duct tape, and it held.
Now, who's used super-glue, and did it work?

I take the easy way out and use glueless patches I hate those messy patches with the vulcanising glue that seems to stick to everything except the patch itself ...
